For the ninth consecutive year, volunteers in Indiana hosted a successful “A Night of Art and Blues” event in February to support LuMind IDSC. Previously a formal cocktail soiree that featured a live blues band, silent auction and original art, this year due to the extraordinary circumstances it was held as a virtual fundraising event.
The distance did not deter the philanthropic sentiment and within the first seven days of the launch of the campaign, organizers were able to raise more than $8,000. By the conclusion of the event, the total contributions surpassed the initial goal of $20,000 to bring in $23,646 to support Down syndrome research and resources.
Contributions to LuMind IDSC are directed towards the advancement of science, therapies, medical options, and education to empower families of individuals with Down syndrome.
Art and Blues is a volunteer-led event of arts, music and fundraising to support the Down syndrome community. A Night of Art and Blues will be held in February 2022 for an in-person celebration.
