LuMind IDSC is honored to have its first-ever team running in the 2025 Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America on Monday, April 21. Four runners will be participating in the route from Hopkinton to the finish line turning their individual achievement into a greater collective impact. The Boston Marathon is a symbol of community and unity, as it brings together runners, volunteers, and spectators from all walks of life, showing how sport can connect people across different backgrounds and cultures.
Having runners in the Boston Marathon is incredibly important for a charity. Our runners become ambassadors, sharing our mission with supporters and potential donors along the way. The funds raised through their efforts directly benefit LuMind IDSC, creating a significant impact in the Down syndrome community. This first-time representation in such a high-profile event can serve as a catalyst for long-term growth, attracting new supporters and inspiring future involvement. It’s an invaluable way to connect the mission of LuMind IDSC with the energy and spirit of one of the most famous marathons in the world.
Meet our team!
Phoebe Holmes: “The city of Boston has long held a special place in my heart and the Boston Marathon is truly a one-of-a-kind event. I am so proud to be running for LuMind IDSC and its equally one-of-a-kind community!! Can’t wait to see everyone’s smiles out on the course.”
Mickey Sumner: “So excited to be out there with everyone, and running for such an amazing cause, and in honor of some of my favorite families on planet earth.”
Ben Towill: “So honored to be running for LuMind IDSC and excited to be running with my oldest friend Mickey Sumner.”
Patrick Lambert: “I am honored to be running for the LuMind IDSC Foundation and their many partners to support research and funding into Down syndrome. I have been volunteering for the past 5 years for the Challenger Athletics organization which hosts noncompetitive sports programs for individuals with physical and learning disabilities. Through this experience I have had my eyes opened to the Down syndrome community and I could not be more excited to support the medical advances that LuMind IDSC drives.”
The Bank of America Boston Marathon is a powerful testament to endurance, both physically and emotionally, and a celebration of what can be accomplished when people come together with a common goal.
