tmed marathon

Kelly Johnson Joffe

kellyHello, and welcome to my fundraising page! I am committed to raising $3,000 to benefit Lumind IDSC and participate in my 9th New York City Marathon! This will be my second year running the marathon on behalf of Lumind IDSC- the leading foundation in funding Down Syndrome research.

For those of you who know me, you also know or know of my younger brother, Bill. In many ways, I have become who I am because of him. Being Bill’s ‘big sister ever’ has taught me priceless lessons…. to not take life experiences for granted, to be thankful for all that I am capable of, to go through life happy, to always have fun and of course, he’s shown me some killer dance moves! He has been my biggest cheerleader throughout life and I have been his.

If you have been lucky enough to know a person with Down Syndrome, you know the incredible glow that exudes from their personality. A trait amongst the Down Syndrome community.

LuMind IDSC envisions a world where every person with Down syndrome thrives with improved health, independence, and opportunities to reach their fullest potential.

LuMind’s research priorities focus on medical conditions that disproportionately impact people with Down syndrome, such as Alzheimer’s disease and sleep apnea. In addition, they also support research projects in areas leading to increased independence and cognition for people with Down syndrome, including gene therapies. With medical advances and better healthcare, people with Down Syndrome are living longer.

This will be my third opportunity to fundraise for LuMind. I truly believe in the work they do and am grateful for the strides they have made. I am proud and honored to be supporting this amazing organization once again and I am so grateful for all of your generous donations. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and to help fund Down Syndrome research.

Here’s to 26.2 miles across the greatest city in the world!
