For the last 8 years, Margie Doyle and a dedicated committee have been hosting Funding Futures Chicago to raise funds for Down Syndrome research. This year, they had set a goal to raise enough to fund up to 4 new clinical trial sites for DS-CTN. With $190,000 from sponsorships, auction, mission moment, and online donations, they achieved their goal and blew past their Million Dollar milestone.

The proceeds from the Funding Futures event will help DS-CTN gain a deeper understanding of the cause of the conditions observed in Down syndrome and the development of appropriate and effective treatments to improve their health and independence. According to Margie, research is not merely an opportunity it is a responsibility we have for our loved ones.

“Down syndrome research has been overlooked and underfunded. So it is an incredible feeling to have 350 people turn out to support us at the event and we are thrilled to say that we are helping to expand DS-CTN and opportunities for people with Down syndrome to have access to the network,” Doyle says.

Funding Futures Chicago is a year-long passion for the committee of volunteers who rally networks and coordinate the event from A to Z. Support from sponsors and in-kind donors has grown over the years helping them raise more each year. By groundhog’s day, they’ll all be back at it planning Funding Futures Chicago 2021.
